Abstract

This study is dedicated to Carlo Colombo, professor and Director of the Facoltà Teologica di Venegono in Milan, 30 years from his death (February 11th 1991). Rereading the years of his priestly ministry, the article seeks to pick out those elements which allow us to grasp the meaning and importance of his Episcopal nomination which came about in the middle of the Second Vatican Council. An unpublished «correspondence» with Carlo Figini and other documents offer, in the second part of the article, a first-hand view of the event by the theologian. Within this research as a whole, a largely eclipsed profile of Colombo emerges.
