Abstract

The relationship between mercy and truth is a central question for the ecclesial renewal promoted by Francis: that which emerges from the theological investigation of these pages is that Jesus Christ himself is the truth that is realised and met in a special way when mercy is experienced. Therefore, salvation is conceived not as moral perfection but as mercy received from God, given to others and lived out; thus, Christian truth becomes the source of a humanly perceivable and credible joy.
