The investigation of the lemma “unity-communion-presence” that don Giovanni Moioli introduces almost unnoticed, as preferable to the usual description of mystical experience as an experience of passivity and interior unification of the subject, contact the guiding ideas of the reflection of the theologian of Milan: guiding ideas accruing over time in its historical and theoretical research on spiritual theology as a discipline sector and end up investing all theology. In particular, it appears that his thesis of not normativity of mystical experience on the path of christian maturation is strictly linked to the reality of agape, coextensive with faith as a principle of revelation and of the christian life. Reading the don Moioli pages on reality of mystical experience is a strong call to debating it only in front of his eventual phenomenal appear in a proper and specific sense: to sustain the vitality of the christian experience is sufficient to explore the value of epignosis, “some penetration of the truth” and “loving penetration” concerning faith, considered on the side of personal appropriation.
