The article intends to present the reflections by Giacinto Tredici in the pages of «La Scuola Cattolica» during the years of the First World War. An overview of the production of Tredici with regard to the war allows you to notice his judgment ability on reality, a wisdom that does not give in to excesses and defends tenaciously the values of justice, law and freedom, whose origin lies in a not merely human, but transcendent horizon. The search for the true cause of the war, the analysis of the position of the Catholics about the conflict and the presentation of the work of Benedict XV, give the author the opportunity of recognizing how faith enlightens the reason to judge and interpret the whole of reality in a vision that aims at the common good.
