Un discernimento necessario

Abstract

This study offers some concrete indications in the light of the rapid changes which the Diocese of Milan is undergoing concerning the distribution of the clergy. The starting point is the strict relationship that exists between the changing face of the church communities and the changing identity and mis-sion of the diocesan priest. Placing ourselves in dialogue with the proposals of Lobinger and Borras, allows us to outline a possible road to reform which takes into account some unique characteristics of the Diocese of Milan. In particular, we will study how the moment of the placement of a new Parish Priest may become the favorable occasion for a serious discernment which regards all of the people involved. The outcome of discernment lived out in a synodal manner is twofold: the choosing of which form of church may better accomplish the evangelizing mission in a specific place and the selecting of the right person to cover the role of the guide of such communities.
