Abstract

The initial formation of seminarians is inevitably conditioned by the sociocultural context in which it takes place. Thus, the present context is marked by three decidedly broad and complex questions which enliven the ecclesial debate and are closely connected to the problem of the efficacy of initial formation. The questions are: the typically juvenile way in which religiosity is lived; the necessary discernment on the form of the seminary, and the current transformations in the way priestly ministry is understood. Reasoning about these one finds some criteria for discernment on the trials envisaged or already being carried out in some seminaries.
