The Concrete Anthropology of the Wounded Man in Josep Maria Esquirol

Abstract

Josep Maria Esquirol is a contemporary philosopher who is little known in Italy despite the translation of his anthropological works and whose proposal can be gathered around some key categories: “intimate resistance”, “penultimate good”, “four infinite wounds”, “half span”, “proximity”. The present article proposes an appreciation of this meditation on the human condition, articulated in its core concepts: the proper “name”; birth; the “home” and the “school”; the “falling back of feeling” and the constitutional vulnerability of the human person. All of this is preceded by some methodological considerations
