Lo Spirito e la storia nella teologia dei «segni dei tempi»

Abstract

One of the more significant areas of contemporary theology wherein the articulation between the action of the Spirit and the history of human kind and the cosmos are better understood is that of the category «signs of the times». This article aims to follow the development of this expression from its birth within the Second Vatican Council up to its revisitation by contemporary theologians with the aim of highlighting the structure of the relationship between Spirit and its underlying history. The final result reveals the involvement of the freedom which this category implies in understanding the offer of universal salvation and the consequent necessity of its renewed comprehension within the broader theological horizon regarding discernment.
