La libertà religiosa dentro il dibattito del Concilio Vaticano II
Abstract
The article starts from a brief historical reconstruction of the period before the conciliar debate, in order to show how the tensions in Vatican II were already latent in the previous century. Secondly, the article focuses on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and on the Constitutions of some countries to understand the influences of civil law on the sensibility of the Fathers. Finally, through a brief analysis of the hard conciliar debate and the text promulgated on December 7, 1965, we can see how the Dignitatis humanae is a reasonable compromise between the different souls. The juridical vision prevailed over a more evocative biblical-based one, which perhaps would have allowed to read religious liberty in a more relational and less individualistic way.
