Il confronto con la tradizione islamica
Indagine sulle fonti e prassi storiche
Abstract
The monotheistic religions, especially Islam, are by now not so appreciated because of their supposed «exclusivism» that would inevitably lead to the risk, when not even fatal destiny, colliding with other beliefs, more «pluralist » because «polytheist». This «arithmetic» concept of Truth (one and only) that would leave no place for other’s, however, at a closer look, rather unfounded. You could say, instead, that a properly understood monotheism, recognizing only in God the Sacred Being, opens the door to a healthy laicism that gives the contingent reality the «profane» character which distinguishes it necessarily. The literal interpretation of the sources – typical of fundamentalism – and many historical facts, however, seem to prove that right between the three major monotheism that share the same root – Judaism, Christianity and Islam – there have been the hardest conflicts. This article is intended to deal with this contradiction and provide elements for a reflection on the subject.
