The article is the first part of a diptych and studies the recovery of the maternal language of the Bible as a prolific possibility for the Church today. At the beginning, there is a description of the original intuition of P. Sequeri and of the support that can be found in some of R. Vignolo’s contributions, in order to draw a synthetic perspective from them and to show its advantages within the present context. Then, the article presents the theoretical foundations for which the Bible can be considered as maternal language and in which perspective it is possible to do so. The second part of the diptych will bring the proposed idea into dialogue with the field of youth ministry.
