Orientarsi nei «grigi» della vita

Abstract

This contribution does not intend to describe the “workings” of the spiritual action which we call “spiritual discernment”, but rather seeks to capture its meaning for the Christian life, that is which kind of life according to the Spirit is being transmitted by the attitude of the practice of spiritual discernment. The research builds on some recent interventions by pope Francis on discernment and develops some intuitions in two directions. In the first, borrowing from the reflection of Giovanni Moioli, spiritual discernment is collocated in reference to the “paradoxical historicity” of the Christian, “original memorial” of Jesus Christ in the docility of the Holy Spirit. In the second consideration the meaning of cristian discernment emerges before the deformations of moral legalism and spontaneous subjectivism.
