Abstract

This study considers an article of the Apostolic Creed: descendit ad inferos. Compared to an historical or exegetical perspective, the systematic outlook is taken from the fact that the passage has become the object of conflictual read-ings to the point of evoking heterodoxy, precisely among Catholic scholars. The authority of this compendium of the faith demands the verification of exactly in what the salvific drama consists, smoothing out the controversy. Instead of asking what follows the death of Jesus, in a chronological sense, one must ask what the effects are, in a logical framework. This research thus illustrates the connection between Christology, Soteriology and Eschatology, which the au-thor retains protects the authentic value of the pronounced message.
