Abstract

This article is made up of three parts. Firstly we are given a panorama of Complexity Literature, showing the existence of at least three distinct fields. We can understand complexity in fact in terms of a non linear chaotic ‘com-plicatedness’, as a property of some dynamic additive system or as an at-tribute of the hermeneutical process. In the second part some considerations on the present day interpretations of the concept of complexity will be dis-cussed. In particular, the authors propose an understanding of complexity not only as a datum of a subject/object hermeneutical system but as the in-trinsic property of reality itself, continually inviting one to not reduce reality to that which the person is merely able to grasp therein. Finally, in the third part, the article introduces the contributions of the authors of the Dossier, contextualizing them in relation to the theme of complexity.
