Tecnologia e corpo umano
Uno sguardo sulla condizione attuale
Abstract
The article investigates the relationship between technology and the human body bearing in mind how the sociocultural context has a bearing on this re-lationship, both in its allowing itself to be influenced by innovations and in its ever pushing towards new horizons. The interrelations between technology and the body are characterized by two contrasting fundamental tendencies: on the one hand a push towards the consideration of the body as irrelevant yet at the same time with an incentive to weave it together with technology to the point of proposing a hybrid as a final outcome, present and future. Such thinking produces a twofold consideration of the body, undermined because considered an interchangeable prop or exalted due to its being fully inserted into a completely physical reality; at the basis of such a view stand the monist (materialistic) or radically dualist philosophical and cultural frameworks.
