La dottrina della giustificazione in E. Jüngel

Abstract

Within the field of the debate on Justification, in which the German Lutheran Churches took part at the end of the nineties in relation to the Lutheran-Catholic Joint Declaration, the contribution of E Jüngel, one of the most strenuously outspoken critics of this document, stands out. After having pinpointed the essential value which Jüngel puts on Justification regarding doctrine and ecclesial praxis, the article outlines the essential points of the presentation that this Author makes regarding the theme in question, with reference to the condition of the justified sinner. In conclusion, a few elements of synthesis and critical evaluation are put together which, while they recognise the major differences which persist between Lutherans and Catholics in the matter, they attempt to demonstrate the plausibility of a «differentiated consensus» like that reached by the Joint Declaration.
