Abstract

In a previous contribution we began a reflection on the biblical way of doing history, concentrating on the Deuteronomistic historiography; perhaps the most significant, or at least the most substantial from the point of view of the literary material which therein finds its roots. Proceeding in our research we will take into consideration that which remains: the books of Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah and Maccabees. The article concludes by revealing how “doing history” for the Bible – according to the specific procedures – is al-ways a theological act: that is, in telling the story of its own past, interpreted as story of salvation, the people of Israel recognize it as the trustworthy context of the revelation of the one true God.
