Possibili aperture verso i non cristiani?

Abstract

The fourfold covenant (Adam, Noah, Moses and Christ) expounded by Irenaeus of Lyons in Adversus Haereses (3,11,8) was called into question in various ways in the second half of the last century by Catholic theologians. The aim of this contribution is to reconstruct the early and more recent context of the ancient passage, to then suggest its philological reconstruction and theological interpretation. Thus three provocations that come to contemporary theology from the ancient text can be drawn: the universality of creation, the exceptional nature of the people of Israel, the invitation to christian conversion with a view to finding the unitary point of history which enables dialogue with non-Christians.
